Editor-in-Chief at the Voice Media Group is Bala Menon, a journalist-artist-researcher-blogger-historian-storyteller who has been associated with the Voice Team for about 15 years in various editorial capacities.

Bala is a journalist-artist-researcher-blogger-historian-storyteller who has been associated with the Voice Team for about 15 years in various editorial capacities.

 

He began his career in the Times of India in Mumbai, before taking up an assignment in Muscat as Deputy Editor with the Times of Oman, the national daily of the the Sultanate of Oman. He then moved to Dubai as a Deputy Editor of Gulf News, the largest English-language newspaper in the Middle East.  

 

Moving to Toronto, Bala was Production Coordinator in the Magazines Division of the Yellow Pages Group/Wall-To-Wall Media  for 16 years before moving to Tamarind Tree Books as Editor to continue his passion for research and writing.

 

He has published three books:

  1. Spice & Kosher – Exotic Cuisine of The Cochin Jews in Sept. 2013 
  2. Rhapsody Lane – A Selection of Works by Flower City Writers (Anthology with 2 other editors) in Dec. 2014.

3.The Jewish Gandhi of Cochin: Biography of A. B.Salem, 

 

Two more  books  are due to be released soon: 

  1. Tiddle Trail – A Collection of Twisted Tales
  2. Essays from Cochin’s Jewtown.

 

He is also working on a book titled Folktales of Malabar.

 

Bala is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists, the Brampton Writers’ Guild and, the Courtyney Park Writers Group.
